The EPIC 3-word pick-up line she used. It got me good 😍

Dance like no one’s watching.

My friend was in the bathroom so that’s what I was doing.

It was Allan Golds — a seedy local club known for great music and drag shows —and I was dancing my face off.  Totally oblivious to anything or anyone.

Dancing is my JAM.

As I was dancing, a guy walked past me and pointed over to the side of the dance floor and said ‘is that your girlfriend?’

I looked over and saw her for the first time. I smiled and playfully said ‘I don’t know. Are you my girlfriend?’

And without missing a beat she looked straight into my eyes with a sexy smile and confidently said, ’I can be.’

Ain’t gonna lie. It was hot. I don’t impress easily but when she said that I was sold!

I walked right over, grabbed her hand, and lead her onto the dance floor.

That was nine years ago and we’ve been starry-eyed and inseparable ever since.

This pic is from that night! Notice the pen and paper? I'm getting her number old-school style. Hahahahaha!

You know what's crazy?

I literally wrote her down in my journal twelve days earlier.

My dear friend, who’s also in this picture, recommended it.

I remember writing that I wasn't sure if my future partner was a man or a woman and then went into detail about how it felt to be with this person.

Isn’t that something? The whole magical story gives me goosebumps.

But you know what?

It wasn’t magic that I found my soul mate at Allan Golds. I found her because I was finally completely open to finding her.

Long before that night, I realized that I was the common denominator in all of my past unfulfilling relationships and if I ever wanted to find the love of my life it needed to start with me up-leveling my relationship with myself.

An eye-opening quote I remember reading back then:

WHAT APPEARS TO BE COMING AT YOU MAY BE COMING FROM YOU.

Right on. What was coming from me? Lack of self-respect, self-trust, confidence, fear, and clarity so that's what I was attracting.

In doing my self-work I learned how to..

speak up for myself without apologizing or fearing that I may say something wrong

be self-compassionate and stop beating myself up for every little thing

uncover my purpose and passions so that dimming my light became a thing of the past

exude inner-confidence and stopped comparing myself

love full-on and express myself without tabling my enthusiasm or feeling that I couldn’t be ‘all in’ with someone

deeply trust myself and my ability to be in a healthy relationship

stop self-sabotaging my goals and the better habits I wanted for myself

respect myself by learning about and honoring my boundaries and values

stop taking things personally and making everything about me

be fully present, joyful, and grounded no matter what life was throwing at me

be authentically and unapologetically ME

No matter if you're looking for love (or strengthen the relationship you're in) or not, your life simply works better when you up-level the relationship you have with yourself.

If you're looking for next-level support, tools, accountability, and to show up on purpose for yourself, your body, and your life every single day, MindBodySWEAT is guaranteed to work in eight weeks. It's not too early to reach out for April's class.
