What a wild year!
I’ve been quiet for a long minute.
The last time I sent out Motivation Monday to my community was December 30th, 2024 – 34 Mondays ago! This blows my own mind since I’ve been old faithful since 2009.
It’s like the Forrest Gump running scene. One day, he had the thought to start running, and he ran and ran and ran. And then one day, he just felt like stopping. And so that’s what he did. That chapter of his life ended exactly how it began – with a thought and a feeling.
I couldn't pinpoint why I stopped, I just knew in my gut that it was in my best interest to take time away from marketing and actively seeking new clients.
And it was weird AF. I had tied so much of my identity to being a coach and prided myself on adding value to my subscribers unfalteringly each Monday for years.
Suddenly, I felt lost and melancholy. I sat with that discomfort and allowed it to play out, which felt like an eternity, but in reality, it lasted only a couple of months.
I snapped out of my funk the tried and true way – by creating a new path and taking action.
Candace, my wife, and I have always been interested in real estate. Unintentionally, we fell into ‘long flipping’ where we find project houses to live in for 2-4 years, remodel, and repeat.
And so, the idea of transitioning into buying more real estate, starting with the addition of a duplex in this case, was a natural progression that I was excited about.
And then the plot twisted.
We started talking casually about moving closer to some of our family in Cincinnati. Be careful what you wish for, speak into existence, and have positive energy towards, because the universe is always listening.
The big BUT was the dream house we designed, built, and have loved living in since 2022. Sell her? No way.
And then one day, as I was binge-listening to a house rental podcast, they discussed short-term rentals, essentially Airbnb. This perked up my ears. Could this be the solution we didn’t know we were looking for that would allow us to keep our house, earn rental income, come back to visit, and move to Cincinnati?
YES.
All of this was swirling around when Candace received an interview…in Cincinnati!
She accepted the job on July 25th, and has been living with our Cincinnati family the past weeks (waiting for our new house to close) as I stay here managing the myriad projects and beefing up the amenities – outdoor kitchen, anyone? The goal is to pre-launch the Airbnb listing in late September.
I am very grateful that I have been using all the coaching tools that I teach my clients. I am…
Listening to my intuition/gut instead of fighting through and trying hard to make things happen
Sitting with the unknowns and allowing the discomfort instead of masking the discomfort with busyness or other negative ways of coping
Setting intentions and then trusting, flowing, and allowing things to play out in perfect time
Staying open to different possibilities instead of rigid thinking
Letting go of control
Staying NOW and continually TAKING ACTION on the next task at hand instead of getting overwhelmed/stressed and stalling out
I have so much more to share in the coming weeks if you’d like to stay with me.
First up will be the name and logo reveal. I can not even believe how perfect they are and how everything is tying not only into my coaching practice but the story behind our house build. Wait till you see! I am SO excited.
And of course, there will be pre-launch discounts and other fun things I haven't even thought of yet ;)
I hope you stick around for the metamorphosis, and if you’re not already part of my community, send me your email real quick because it’s about to get (even more) fun.
Big hug!
Kelly
P.S. I am still happily coaching and creating lasting shifts for clients.
