kind words

I sought out coaching with Kelly because I was stuck in a continuous energy-draining cycle that felt desperate, cynical, and exhausting. I felt lost, like I had several of the pieces I needed to make the life I wanted but I didn’t know how to put them all together. I had no idea how to move forward.

I wasn’t completely confident about the results I’d get from coaching because I had been trying to break the cycle all my life without ever making much progress.

Now I have clarity around what’s actually going on when I start to spiral and I have the tools to do something about it.

I feel confident, energized, powerful, and grateful. I feel like the life I want is slowly taking shape around me. Partly because I’m finally taking the right steps to make it happen, and partly because I’m now aware that I already had much of it the whole time.

By far my biggest takeaway is the realization that my Inner Critic is not me. I’m now aware of when my IC has taken the wheel and I have the tools to deal with it. This is huge because one of the other things I realized is the vast majority of what drains my energy is actually the IC beating me over the head with shame and cynicism. Now that I’ve taken the power back, I feel free, hopeful, and energetic about life and my limitless potential.

And this new mindset has profoundly impacted how I approach my life, relationships, and business.

Hiring a coach feels super risky, I get it. It was really difficult for me to get to the point where I was ready to make the investment, but I’m so glad that I did. If you trust Kelly’s process and commit to doing the work, you’ll see an exponential return on your investment. Not only am I a much happier and healthier person, but my business more than doubled during our three months together. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

— Josiah Goff, Marketing Technology Consultant

I wasn’t at all confident that I’d ever find my soul mate. Kelly helped me work on my relationship with myself and gave me tools that allowed me to stop putting so much pressure on myself. She encouraged me to have fun and enjoy the process and when I did my soul mate literally showed up. We’re in the process of planning our wedding and it’s the best feeling in the world!

Kelly is a great listener and helps you identify what you judge about yourself and feel shame about which allows for magical healing to take place. She really listens and talks to you about stuff you’re hung up on, excuses you’re making for yourself, and stuff you believe that isn’t even true about yourself. I am a shinier, happier version of myself because of Kelly.
— Melanie Silva, Vice President of Smart Furniture
Working with you was one of the best things I ever did - from an internal and external perspective.  I am grateful for your energy, your spirit and your authenticity.
— Lynn Schmissrauter, Transition Consultant

Here's an interview with Lynn Schmissrauter, Transition Consultant, after our three months together:

Why did you seek out coaching?

I am entering into a new part of my life – and some of it feels like foreign territory to me.  I think that coaching is important as I try to establish some new habits and norms – and to get clear about my expectations for myself.  I knew that it was time to start something new as much of my life is changing.  Some of the changes are of my own making – like career transitions – but some are just coming naturally as I age.  I don’t want to be one of these people who fights nature – and yet I also don’t want to just blame everything on “getting old”.

What did you gain from coaching?

The way that Kelly frames her coaching – by looking inward at the mind and heart while also strengthening outside the body - is a perfect combination for what I am seeking.  The benefits are multi-layered.  She helped me deal effectively with some major transition points, she offered encouragement and guidance when I struggled, she is affirming and positive, and she models a healthy lifestyle.  Her coaching is training, mentoring, modeling and supporting.  I learned some new and simple ways to begin the lifelong process of strengthening and toning – and I met someone whom I admire for her grit and her grace.

What was a pleasant surprise that you didn't anticipate you'd receive from coaching?

I lost ten pounds – and I can now see my ribs!  I didn’t anticipate the internal work to be such an important part of training.

What were your most powerful takeaways?

Naming my internal critic – and naming my intuition.  Sophia wins…

How has coaching up-leveled your life?

I think if you are really learning and gaining clarity and consciousness, it’s really hard to fall back.  In other words, once you’ve had a taste of the good stuff, you never want to return to what is fake.  I think Kelly helped me launch into another level of authenticity – mainly because that is what she models.

What would you recommend to someone who was considering coaching with me?

Do it.  Just do it.  It is worth the investment of time, money and energy.  Kelly is flexible and funny – and she is a pro.  She will bring out the best in you – and she will help you look at yourself in new and wonderful ways.  Just do it.

Here's an interview with Maria Vives, Education Consultant, after our three months together:

Why did you seek out coaching?

I sought coaching because I wanted to lose weight and I felt stuck in life. Full of ambitions but didn’t know how to move forward.

What did you gain from coaching?

I learned that when you are stuck in one area of your life, more than likely you are stuck in other areas without realizing it. I was able to see that one of the reasons why I was stuck at losing weight was because I was happy with how my life was unfolding. As soon as I was able to set in motion some life goals, the weight also started to come off. The goals were set in motion because Kelly helped me transform my abstract ideas into clear objectives that I could actually accomplish step-by-step.

What was a pleasant surprise that you didn't anticipate you'd receive from coaching?

Honestly, I wasn’t sure that coaching with Kelly was going to be worth the investment. It was a surprise to see that it was actually one of the best investments I've ever made. I was also surprised to see how motivated I felt in such a short period of time. My sessions ended months ago and I still feel just as motivated to live my life fully and even to start a consulting business… I never thought of that before!

What were your most powerful takeaways?

That I am worthy of happiness and that I don’t have to feel selfish for taking care of myself. What others think of me it is their business, not mine. Finally, I feel assertive enough to know that it is OK to ask for help when needed—networking is very important!

How has coaching up-leveled your life?

Yes!! I feel more confident about my abilities and the skills I can bring into any endeavor I decide to pursue.

What would you recommend to someone who was considering coaching with me?

Be ready to discover yourself and what you are worth and don’t be surprised if what you find out is totally different than what you had in mind. Be patient!! Some of the assignments are very personal--they force you to look deep into who you are and why you are the way you are. Be open minded!!

I started seeking a coach when I realized that I was at a point in my life where I felt “stuck” mentally and physically. I knew I had greater potential, but I didn’t know exactly how to get “unstuck” and unleash it.

The results that I have achieved by working with Kelly has more than exceeded my expectations! I absolutely love that our sessions together incorporate both personal training and life coaching. The experience has been truly transformational.

I quickly lost unwanted weight and have started developing the dream body that I always wished I had.

Her life coaching taught me how to love myself, overcome obstacles, and mental blocks. My sessions with Kelly have elevated so many aspects of my life and overall happiness.

This has been the smartest investments that I have ever made for myself!
— Sarah Medley, Salon and Spa General Manager

I was new to Chattanooga and wanted accountability to stay on track with the transition. Kelly helped me think and speak through some things and most importantly to be honest with myself. Kelly encouraged me to take some time in the slow lane ––which was foreign to me but very helpful.

Kelly has a great approach to health which is not just physical. The best things about our partnership were (1) Accountability (2) Another perspective (3) Motivation.

Words of advice: Make sure you’re honest with where you are in order to make your time with Kelly effective. Also be prepared to not just talk about it, but be about it.
— Tonya Mizelle Joseph, Paycation Travel Entrepreneur
I started working out with Kelly to jump start my exercise program. I’ve always been healthy and fit, but had fallen out of a consistent routine over the past few years. Kelly pushed me out of my comfort zone - just enough - to realize my true potential. I was surprised at the amount of strength and endurance that I achieved while working with her. So much of what we did included bringing awareness to the way I think, my attitude and outlook on life. Today, I’ve incorporated regular workouts back into my weekly schedule and have stepped up my positive approach to life!
— Christa Mannarino –– Mannarino Consulting

Before working with Kelly I was scared, negative and I was good at beating myself up. And now? I found my inner strength; I am more confident mentally, emotionally and physically. It wasn’t easy at times, but I challenged myself. So speaking from personal experience, my best advice would be to sign up even if you’re scared as hell, and do it anyway—you won’t regret it!
— Annette Longoria-Adams –– Elementary Educator

Working with Kelly has created a very real shift in me; in the way I look at life, at other people, and even in myself. I have learned to love myself, and to put myself on my VIP list.

She has encouraged, and coached me to take on tasks that I didn’t think I was capable of accomplishing (and, to be honest, didn’t really think I wanted to!) Kelly brings to light what is good, and strong, and powerful, and worthy in each and every one of us and, for that, I am so very, very grateful!!
— Talley Carroll, Philanthropist

Kelly asks questions that really make you think about who you are, why you think the way you do, and is it healthy to think that way. She really encourages you to be comfortable being uncomfortable and is very supportive in your process of becoming a better you.
— Elaine Merritt, Vice President of Sandler Training

When I think of Kelly the first word that comes to mind is inspiration. She inspires a change, she inspires excitement, she inspires positive thoughts but most of all she inspires passion. Kelly is passionate about life and teaching others how to live the life they truly desire.
— Karen Rollins, Owner, Jalapeno Corndog Inc.

Kelly makes you aware of your self-destructive patterns –– the ones you don’t even realize you’re doing. She doesn’t sugar coat anything and she holds you accountable and teaches you to hold yourself accountable. She inspires you to be a better person and a better version of yourself.
— Lani Skyes, Owner, Fur Certain Pet Services

I am in the best shape I’ve even been in thanks to your coaching/training this past year! I appreciate you guiding me not only on exercise but also the personal coaching – I can tell a huge difference in my response to stressful situations. I have learned to be grateful (instead of expecting the worst) and practice daily positive resets. Thank you!
— Diana McElveen, BB&T Huffaker Insurance, Asst VP

Business Testimonials

As a business owner we have been so happy with the results of Kelly’s FIT Business program. Not only has it enhanced the overall health of our employees who are participating but almost as important it has enhanced office morale. The employees have gotten to know each other better and therefore pull for one another. That is wonderful to see.
— Mark Brock, Brock Insurance Agency

I initially signed on to participate in Kelly’s FIT Business program because I was in a workout rut and needed someone to motivate and push me to new levels. I never imagined the amount of knowledge that I would learn from her. I had very low self-esteem and just didn’t see myself capable of achieving any goals that I had always wanted to set.

Kelly gave me the tools to start believing in myself. She retrained my body, mind and attitude.

I have never felt stronger or healthier and look forward to every single session because she never fails to switch it up, make it fun and greet us with the most contagious, positive attitude.

Before management brought Kelly on, I questioned if I was important to the company at all. After seeing management’s sincere excitement for the program, I know of my importance and that alone has boosted my morale.

I am able to refocus after a workout and get back on track. The stress relief is amazing. And I love the relationships that I have formed with the other co-workers who are also involved in Kelly’s program.

Even though I have worked with these ladies for years, working out with each other has given me a surprising new view and respect for these women. Seeing their transformations motivates me to push even harder. And our work relationship with each other is stronger.

Kelly and her FIT Business program is a complete SUCCESS!
— Tracy Phillips, employee of Brock Insurance Agency

The benefits of working with Kelly will cover any expense. She promotes a healthy mind, body, and soul. Anyone who listens to her and follows her advice and example, even a little bit, will see an improvement in health and temperament, and the business will see improvement in employee’s attendance at work.

Kelly leads a 3-day-a-week fitness class here at Baylor. It’s free to Baylor staff and faculty and that’s a true benefit. Kelly has helped develop an amazing camaraderie within the group because of her style of teaching, energy, and ability to keep us interested and have fun at the same time.

This class means everything to me. It’s addictive, and I mean that in the best way possible. She challenges the class so that by the end of 40 minutes, you are spent! But that feeling of accomplishment along with the soreness and fatigue is so compelling you can’t wait to come back.

Some times when we’re moaning and groaning during an exercise, she will say, “Now, what are you going to do today for yourself.” And after every class she encourages us to be positive and make this day the best day ever.

My personal benefits? I have increased stamina, self-esteem and energy. I sleep better and have formed better eating habits as a result of regular attendance.
— Susan Collins, Assistant to the Headmaster at Baylor School

We have been fortunate to work with Kelly Summersett for nearly a year. She has transformed formerly sedentary people into active participants in movement and exercise and motivated previously active people to a new level of energy and fitness.

Her challenge at our company was daunting but she aggressively accepted the opportunity and reached many people who have embraced her concepts and reached new levels of health and well-being. Her emphasis on small changes was the perfect strategy for our group.

Our employees have gained a new appreciation and understanding of the benefits of nutrition and exercise and many have adopted a new lifestyle based on the knowledge and motivation that Kelly provided.

Her workouts are challenging but adaptable for all levels of fitness and her energy is contagious.

Kelly has truly transformed our company!
— Joseph Laufer, President, BJB Electric LP
