"I don't know what I'm doing!" My response. Relate?

Kelly Summersett, discomfort zone

We took our son to college yesterday. His first day being a little fish in a big sea.

The comfort zone as he knew it — close friends, familiar places and routines, family support a few steps away, and being the star runner — were all snatched right up from under him in a blink of an eye.

It was soooo painful watching his ‘what the hell!’ face as we closed the door to leave. He moved in early and was literally one of the only people in his whole dorm.

Earlier, he confessed that he was afraid that he didn’t know what he was doing.

I assured him that he indeed already does know how to…

  • Study and get good grades

  • Make good friends

  • Be kind and caring

  • Be a disciplined runner

  • Take care of himself (cooking, cleaning, laundry, washing behind the ears, etc)

  • Be resourceful and figure out problems

  • Most importantly…play X-Box ;)

Oh snap! Haven’t we all been there?! Starting a new job, getting married or divorced, having a baby, moving away, starting our own business….all scary shit!

It’s sooooo much easier to stay in our comfort zones and do what we’ve always done. Yet doing it that way doesn’t allow us to grow and develop into the kick-ass people we’re here on this earth to be.

Your mind, in particular your Inner Critic, is ALWAYS going to entice you with the storyline that safety is good and growth is bad. It’s just the way we’re wired.

It’s OUR responsibility, however, not to feed that storyline.

My questions to you …

What is something you're putting off doing in your life (big or small) that you may even be saying that you don’t know how to do?

What DO you know how to do that transfers over to this new endeavor? Focus on that.

What is a small action you take, based on what you DO know, that moves you forward today?

Hey! Did you know I have a free workbook that goes into more detail about Inner Critic and how to quiet her so you get unstuck from your comfort zone?

Doing the workbook allows you to be bolder and take more on-target actions in your life so you feel more confident and energized!

I’d love for you to have it. It’s free AND I’m bringing it to life next week (**8/26/19)!

When you download the workbook you’ll be invited to join me in a free private Facebook group next week so we can go through it together. You’ll get a shit ton more out of it!

I’m doing this limited-time group because I understand human nature. We download freebies, buy books, or sign up for self-study courses with the greatest of intentions to actually do them. Yet without accountability or support we often don’t.

And when we don’t do the things we say we’re going to do it only makes our Inner Critic get super loud and bitchy — “See! I knew you wouldn’t follow through. You loser.”

Don’t let that happen to you!

If you’re in growth mode and want to learn more about your Inner Critic, how to quiet her, and have support and accountability to take some on-target actions in your life download the workbook now and stay tuned for the Facebook group invite next week.

I would love for you to join me. I promise to keep it fun, informative, and a good use of your time.

**I will be hosting this free Facebook group every few months so if you don’t catch this one you’ll be invited to the next one.
